The ISPC is a unique training and research center for the acquisition of qualifications and professional skills in the field of security, able to collectively create and share technical knowledge in the fields of selection, training and professional development and, in general, able to promote study and research in the field of security.

It unifies the services of the Police School of Catalonia and the School of Fire and Civil Security of Catalonia located in the city of Mollet del Vallès.

After passing the Bomber exams, both for being a civil servant firefighter and for being a volunteer firefighter, there is a training period at ISPC, in which the basic firefighter course is done.

The trainings that depend on the School of Firemen, also are realized in the Institute, and is the continuous formation that is done throughout the year.

The ISPC has the following purposes:

training of members of the public and private security services, fire prevention and extinction and rescue, emergencies, civil protection and environmental monitoring, control and protection, creation, management, dissemination and application of technical knowledge to select, promote and develop these professional groups in accordance with the regulations governing them, the promotion of study and research in the field of security.

The Institute is also responsible for the training, development and qualification of volunteers and actors directly related to security and emergency services; the training of prison staff in security procedures, interventions and techniques, in collaboration with the competent Department; and the accreditation of training centers for competent technical staff to draw up self-protection plans for activities and centers of interest for civil protection.
